Two coloring methods I use to maintain the scanned line.
The base color is from ToonBoom with the vectorized line turned to 0% opacity. Then I took it to After Effects and found two tricks for losing the transparent gaps:
1. Just duplicated and moved the objects around with arrow keys until the gaps were filled.
2. Using Fast Blur and Levels effects. Fast blur expands the color areas, but loses opacity. To push up opacity I used Levels ‘Alpha’ option and dragged the ‘Input White’ arrow (on the right) close to left side until the gaps were filled.
Hope it’s useful!
